RELEASING OF FIVE LOGGERHEAD TURTLES INTO EL SALER BEACH

Five individual loggerhead turtle (Caretta caretta) have been reintroduced today in the sea at the Reserva de la Punta, at the El Saler, on a journey that has had more than 1,000 volunteers, and has attended the Regional Manager of Infrastructure, Planning and Enviroment, Isabel Bonig.

The individual were found beached in different parts of the coast of Valencia, and after a recovery period in the ARCA del Mar of the Oceanogràfic,- an initiative that enjoys the support of Gioseppo company- are ready to be released back into the sea. During 2011, a total of 20 turtles have been into La Granja de El Saler and facilities of the Oceanogràfic.

The release of turtles has been carried out within a recreational day in which volunteers and their families have also participated in the manual cleaning of the beach. The Punta de El Saler beach is the place where were born, in 2007, the first sea turtle which gives evidence in the Valencian Community in the last decades.
