The City of Arts and Sciences helps to promote blood donation

Luis Lobón pointed out that this partnership “has as its main objective something as important and fundamental as the promotion of blood donation among the public”. The regional secretary stressed that “we are aware of the social impact of blood donation, as well as the need to give out more information on this practice so that more and more members of the public show their solidarity in this way”.
The regional secretary for Events and Projects state that “as a blood donor, it is a matter of great pleasure to me to launch this partnership, which also meets one of the objectives of the City of Arts and Sciences, in other words, to be present in and part of wider Valencian society”. He added that “this is the start of a close cooperative relationship which we hope will help to make giving blood much more common”.
The Chairman of the Federation of Blood Donors of the Valencia Region, Manuel Martínez, declared that “it is gratifying to see that a cultural organisation like the City of Arts and Sciences has wanted to join in this initiative, because everyone can give blood and it forms part of the ethical, social and public culture”.
Manuel Martínez thanked “the enthusiasm with which the people at the City of Arts and Sciences greeted this collaboration” and expressed his certainty that this “is the beginning of a long shared experience between the two organisations”.
On concluding the event, Manuel Martínez presented the General Manager of the City of Arts and Sciences, Jorge Vela, with a trophy as a sign of his thanks for the partnership that has begun today.
Partnership agreement
Next Sunday, the 29th of May, the City of Arts and Sciences is celebrating Sports Day and from 10am to 1.30 pm anyone visiting the complex can take part in the First Blood Donation Day at set up by the Transfusion Centre within the facilities. This is the first of a series of joint events linking the social work undertaken by the City of Arts and Sciences and the Federation of Blood Donors of the Valencia Region.
The agreement also expresses the aim to work together on a quarterly or annual blood donation schedule for employees and the possibility of organising regular blood giving sessions for the visiting public. A 10% discount will also be given on all kinds of tickets for the City of Arts and Sciences on presentation of a valid blood donor card issued by the Regional Government of Valencia. Every year, 100 tickets will also be raffled among blood donors in the larger towns visited by the Transfusion Centre throughout the year.
One of the main objectives of the arts and science complex is to provide a public service, hosting and supporting initiatives that aim to improve social welfare and development. With this partnership, the facilities of the City of Arts and Sciences will not only be a meeting place for arts and knowledge but also for solidarity and collaboration. It will serve as a channel and intermediary between society and the Federation of Blood Donors of the Valencia Region.
Through this partnership, the City of Arts and Sciences is committed to taking every suitable opportunity to promote the giving of blood as an act of public solidarity, as well as disseminating and distributing promotional material on blood donation among its visitors.
