The City of Arts and Sciences holds the 'Robot Challenge' competition

The City of Arts and Sciences holds the 'Robot Challenge' competition Today the City of Arts and Sciences held the competition “Robot Challenge”, in which nearly 90 robots built by students carried out a series of speed and skills tests that have determined the winners in the competition’s two categories: free and Lego-Knex parts.

In the first of the categories, three projects presented by the Cavanilles IES (HigherTechnical College) from La Vall d’Uixó have triumphed. The winner was the robot from the team made up of Juan Bautista Martínez and Kevin Gilbert; second place went to the project by Fernando Esteve and Francisco Medós, while third place was taken by the students Joan López and José Mondragón.

As for the robots built with Lego-Knez parts, the IES 3 from the Valencian town of Aldaya won first and second prizes, with the robots by Cristian Peñaranda and Alejandro Simón, and Fernando Mínguez and Jesús Reyes, respectively. Third prize went to the Gabriel Císcar IES students from Oliva, Sandra Femenia and Mireia Navas.

The City of Arts and Sciences, in cooperation with the Regional Education Department and Valencia Polytechnic University’s Higher Technical College of Gandía, set up this initiative for which nearly 180 students from Secondary Schools and training centres from all over the Valencia Community Region registered, with the aim of encouraging scientific and technological vocations among students.
