Oceanográfico takes part in the 34th World Festival of Underwater Images

The City of Arts and sciences’ Oceanográfico is taking part from last Wednesday, 24th October, in the 34th holding of the World festival of Underwater Images, which is held in the French city of Antibes and is regarded as the leader among the main events held of similar characteristics.  
Oceanográfico takes part in the 34th World Festival of Underwater Images At this event, which attracted 10,000 people the last time it was held, the Valencian aquarium will have a stand to display the content of a project that will be undertaken next year.

This project concerns the 1st International Festival of Underwater Images (FIIS) that will take place from 7th to 11th May 2008 at Oceanográfico, an initiative fully in line with the main aim of the centre, which is to spread the message of conservation and respect for the marine environment and its inhabitants.

FIIS has two categories: underwater video and photography. Over the five days of the Festival, the documentaries selected from the competition will be shown in the Red Sea Auditorium and the best photographs received will be on display throughout the installations. At the same time, various conferences, round table talks and workshops will be held in collaboration with experts and prestigious professionals linked to the world of underwater exploration and film.

The competition is aimed at all underwater video and photography fans, video-artists, videograph makers, cinema and television filmmakers, as well as television channels, photographers, producers, sub-aqua clubs, schools and the general public. The period for presenting entries will be from 1st December to 7th April.
