Opera Europa is the organisation serving the most important opera companies and festivals in Europe. During the course of this international conference, experts will share their experiences and look at issues such as opera education and its place in society, the impact of new Technologies on opera house and opera festival management, co-productions and how to generate new audiences, among other subjects.
The meeting will be attended by representatives of all the major European institutions related to opera, such as the Royal Opera House, Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich, Teatro de Roma and Teatro de Bolonia, FEDORA (Federation of Opera Friends Association), Prague National Theatre, the European Network of Opera House Education Departments (RESEO), the Birmingham Opera Company, Finnish National Opera in Helsinki, Estonian National Opera, Nederlandse Opera, Royal Danish Theatre, Gran Teatro del Liceo in Barcelona and the Teatro Real in Madrid, among others.
This organisation is headquartered in Brussels and currently has 81 members, both theatres and festivals. Opera Europa generally holds twice-yearly meeting for all its members. It was in this context, in the Opera Europa conference held in Riga (Latvia) last November, that Valencia was put forward to host the first conference in 2005.
