A total of 104,000 people visited the City of Arts and Sciences during the 9th October and Columbus Day long weekend holidays. 77 % of those visitors came from outside the Valencia Region and 27% of them were foreign tourists mainly from Italy, England and Germany. 50% were from other autonomous regions of Spain, in particular from Catalonia, Andalusia, and Madrid. The remaining 23% were Valencians.

The City of Arts and Sciences is to host the first MTV Winter musical event in February 2008
It was announced today by the General Manager for Project Coordination, José Luis Villanueva, and the MTV representatives , Antonio Campo Dall’Orto, Managing Director of MTV South, and Raffaele Annechino, SVP General Manager Iberia that, for four days, the City of Arts and Sciences will be the venue for the MTV Winter music event, following the signing of an agreement between the educational complex and the television channel.
The Oceanográfico is to take part in the European Week of the Shark with activities, workshops and educational talks
The City of Arts and Sciences’ Oceanográfico has organised a wide programme of activities for the European Week of the Shark, to be held from 8th to 14th October in various European zoos and aquariums with the aim of supporting all kinds of initiatives directed at conserving these animals.

The Hemisfèric installs a full dome digital projection system
As from November the Hemisfèric of the City of the Arts and Sciences will include the most advanced full dome digital projection system currently available. This new kind of projection will allow viewers to immerse themselves in the world of astronomy and digital animation. As a result of the installation of this system, the Projection Hall of the Hemisfèric will be closed from 15 to 31 October.

The Oceanogràfic hosts the "Marine Life Etchings" exhibition
As from today (Friday) and until 9 January next year, the Oceanogràfic marine park of the City of the Arts and Sciences hosts the “Marine Life Etchings” exhibition by the English artist Debby Mason. It includes various marine species and features a 17th-century etching technique.

"Oceanográfico Tuesdays" devotes its new season to climate change and its relationship with the oceans
Oceanic dynamics, as a phenomenon responsible for climate change and the possible effects of that change on marine biodiversity and resources, both throughout the world and on a regional scale, in the case of the Mediterranean, will be the central theme of this fourth edition of “Oceanográfico Tuesdays” which, today, has been presented by the Oceanográfico’s management control director, Francisco Torner, accompanied by the CSIC (Spanish National Research Centre) research professor, Carlos Duarte, one of the world’s leading experts in this field, and who is also presenting a paper during this cycle of conferences.

Tomorrow the Science Museum facilitates observation of Jupiter
Tomorrow, on Thursday 13th September, the Príncipe Felipe Science Museum is the venue for astronomical observation of the planet Jupiter. This activity is part of the fourth edition of the cycle “Astronomy in the museum 2007”, which includes lectures, workshops, and astronomical observations, all of which are free and provided in collaboration with the Valencia Astronomy Association (Asociación Valenciana de Astronomía, AVA).

The Hemisféric releases in Spain the IMAX production "The Alps"
As from Friday 14th September, the Hemisfèric of the City of the Arts and Sciences will include in its programme the IMAX film “The Alps”. This will be the Spanish première of this production, which relates John Harlin’s ascent of the north face of the Eiger, one of the world’s most famous peaks and known to climbers for its unpredictable weather conditions and its fragile stone, which may cause fatal landslides. Indeed, in 1966 John Harlin’s father died during his climb of this legendary mountain.
