UNDERWATER RESTAURANT
Located in the centre of the Park, this is the most emblematic building of the Oceanogràfic owing to its unique roof designed by Felix Candela. It represents a paraboloid figure similar to that of a water lily, and contains a large aquarium on the ground floor that fits perfectly into the whole of its perimeter.

The objective of the aquarium is to recreate an oceanic open water habitat where large shoals of pelagic fishes can be contemplated. Its scenographic beauty is highlighted by the contrast between the intense blue of the water and the silvery colour of the fish, together with the harmony and the synchronisation of their movements as they circle around the building.

The upper floor of the building is surrounded by a lake to create an island, which acts as a communication nucleus between the various thematic buildings. The public can observe two species of pelican and also cormorants on the lake. Adjacent to the Underwater Restaurant there is an island that holds a colony of flamingos.
