Discover the Hemisfèric

IMAX cinema and digital projections to feel adventures through spectacular images.

This is the largest hall in Spain to contain three systems projecting onto a concave screen of 900 square metres:

  • Large-format cinema, IMAX Dome.
  • Digital 3D screen measures: rectangle about 12x6 meters.
  • Digital projections. Astronomical representations and entertainment shows.

The Hemisfèric was inaugurated in 1998 and was the first building in the City of Arts and Sciences to open its doors to the public. It is a spectacular construction designed by Santiago Calatrava, with an ovoid roof over 100 metres long that contains in its interior the large sphere that constitutes the projection room.

"3D FLYING MONSTERS" DISCOVER THE MYSTERIES OF THE ANIMAL TAHT USED TO RIDE THE WINDS 220 MILLION YEARS AGO

Pterosaurs ruled the air 220 million years ago. Flying giants that keep enigmas that try to answer this 3D production that mixes history, science and research. Reveal them in the Hemisfèric.

Projection

Hubble

For the first time in Spain this production 'Hubble. Exploring the Universe', which tells the story of the fifth maintenance mission of this telescope carried out in the year 2009, can be seen in Spain. They recorded impressive sequences of the five ¿space walks¿ required for the repairs as well as the efforts made to capture images of the telescope in orbit with the mechanical arm of the Atlantis in movement.

"BORN TO BE WILD". DARE TO MAKE A TRIP TO JUNGLES OF BORNEO FORESTS AND SAVANNAH OF KENYA IN THE HEMISFÈRIC

This IMAX production, which invites to travel to jungles of Borneo forests and savannah of Kenya, based on stories of elephants and orangutans orphans to show how the devotion of certain individuals save endangered species.

THE HEMISFÈRIC OFFERS THE UNIVERSE IN YOUR CLASSROOM. LIVE PLANETARIUM SESSIONS FOR PRIMARY AND SECUNDARY SCHOOL STUDENTS

In the Hemisfèric (IMAX and full dome) projections hall, students can make discoveries seen in the sky with the naked eye out to the confines of the Milky Way, seeing the solar system's bodies along the way. Planetarium sessions from octuber 2011 to may 2012.
